ThisWeek.AI (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ThisWeek.AI mobile application and associated services (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described here, please do not use the Service.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in through a third-party provider (e.g., Apple or Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Product Interaction (Usage Data)

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including articles read, articles saved, audio listened to, listening progress, search queries, session duration, screens viewed, taps, scrolls, and feature engagement. We also record the device type, operating system version, and app version associated with each session.

Device Information

We collect device identifiers (such as a vendor identifier assigned by the operating system) and push notification tokens to deliver notifications you have opted into and to help diagnose issues you may report.

User ID

When you create an account, we generate a unique user identifier that we use to associate your account with your preferences, saved articles, listening history, and subscription status.

Approximate Location

We infer your approximate city, region, and country from network request information such as IP address data. We use this only to derive approximate location for personalization, analytics, and operational reporting. We do not request or collect precise GPS location from your device, and we do not store raw IP addresses in your user profile.

Content Preferences

We store your content preferences, saved articles, and reading history to personalize your experience.

Support Submissions

When you contact us through our support form or by email, we collect the name, email address, issue summary, detailed description, and any other information you choose to provide. We also record the browser user agent string of submissions made through the website to help diagnose technical issues. We use this information solely to respond to your request and to improve the reliability of the Service.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Personalize your news feed and content recommendations
• Tailor content and regional insights using approximate location signals
• Send push notifications for new content and weekly digests
• Generate and deliver AI-narrated audio summaries
• Power Ask, including voice transcription, grounded answers, and spoken responses
• Analyze usage trends to improve the Service
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

ThisWeek.AI uses artificial intelligence to curate, summarize, narrate news content, and power Ask. AI-generated summaries and article audio are derived from publicly available sources.

Ask sends your questions and voice recordings to OpenAI to generate answers and read them back to you. We do not attach your name, email address, account identifier, saved articles, or profile information to Ask requests sent to OpenAI. Your Ask data is not used to train AI models.

Your reading preferences are used solely to personalize content delivery within the Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: Third-party vendors who assist with hosting, analytics, push notifications, authentication, and approximate location enrichment, and AI-powered Ask features (e.g., Supabase, Apple Push Notification Service, IP-based geolocation providers, and OpenAI). For Ask, OpenAI processes questions and voice recordings on our behalf to generate answers, transcribe voice questions, and create spoken responses. We require service providers that process personal data for us to provide the same or equal protection for that data.
• Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ThisWeek.AI, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage data is retained in aggregated, anonymized form for analytics purposes. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Opt out of push notifications through your device settings
• Revoke Ask third-party AI consent in the app’s Settings screen
• Export your data in a portable format

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the Service and updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
